The Mental Wellness Team is seeking an innovative, highly motivated and energetic navigator for the position of Mental Wellness and Crisis Response Navigator. As members of a progressive, regional Mental Wellness and Crisis Response Team you will provide a range of mental wellness navigation services that will include limited community crisis response supports. These supports may include community spiritual supports and care navigation. Direct services may include land base healing supports; intake screening; and referrals. The overall goal of this position is to increase capacity for emergency response to adverse events within and in support of the First Nations served.
Ideally applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree/diploma in one of the helping disciplines with no less than 5 years’ experience in community wellness/mental health or community crisis, possess excellent communication, interpersonal/team building and leadership skills and have demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of community based staff and agencies. Evidence of previous training in Critical Incident Stress Management Training level 1/2; crisis intervention; suicide intervention; ASIST; trauma-informed care; or grief and loss are deemed an asset. The ability to work independently is crucial to this position. The individual must be willing to work flexible hours; provide an acceptable Criminal Records check and Vulnerable Sector check (Level 3); proof of a minimum class “G’ driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle’ and must be willing to travel within 3 differing districts.
In addition, the individual would be willing to take part in “land-based” programming
and if not holding a current Food Handlers certificate and willing to take the training
necessary.
